Nigerian singer Tiwa Savage has expressed joy as she embarks on the upcoming chapter of her career as a movie actress.
Tiwa Savage recently revealed the release date for her highly anticipated debut film, “Water and Garri,” expressing joy about the project that has been in the making for two years. Serving as the Executive Producer, Tiwa also takes on the lead role in the movie, directed by Meji Alabi.
Last year, Tiwa hinted at the movie’s production, disclosing that she portrays a fashion designer with a burgeoning career in the United States who returns to Africa to confront unresolved issues.
In an Instagram post, the Afropop star shared that the film would be available on the streaming platform Prime Video, reaching audiences in over 240 countries and territories worldwide.
Tiwa stated, “This has been over two years in the making, and I must say this is probably one of the most adventurous, fulfilling things I’ve done.” She expressed gratitude for the opportunity to debut as a lead actor and serve as the executive producer of the film.
Meanwhile, the film shares the same title, “Water and Garri,” with Tiwa Savage’s second EP, released in 2021, featuring five tracks.
With a cast including Jemima Osunde, Mike Afolarin, Andrew Bunting, and others, the film is poised to mark a significant milestone in Tiwa Savage’s journey as an entertainer.
