Tinubu Seeks Senate Approval Of Buratai, 18 Other Nominees For Fresh Appointments

President Bola Tinubu has sent a letter to the National Assembly, asking for the confirmation of 19 nominees for the position of commissioners of the National Population Commission (NPC). The letter was read by Senate President Godswill Akpabio during a session on Tuesday, December 12.

The nominees are:

  1. Clifford Zirra (Adamawa)
  1. Chidi Ezeoke (Anambra)
  1. Isa Buratai (Borno)
  1. Alex Ukam (Cross River)
  1. Blessyn Brume-Ataguba (Delta)
  1. Jeremiah Nwankwegu (Ebonyi)
  1. Tony Aiyejina (Edo)
  1. Ejike Ezeh (Enugu)
  1. Abubakar Damburam (Gombe)
  1. Uba Nnabue (Imo)
  1. Dogon Garba (Kaduna)
  1. Aminu Tsanyawa (Kano)
  1. Yori Afolabi (Kogi)
  1. Olakunle Sobukola (Ogun)
  1. Temitayo Oluwatuyi (Ondo)
  1. Mary Afan (Plateau)
  1. Ogiri Henry (Rivers
  1. Saany Sale (Taraba)

In addition, President Tinubu also requested that the Senate approve the nominations of Babajide Fasina (South-West), Enorense Amadasu (South-South), and Bashir Indabawa (North-West) as NPC commissioners.

The Senate, chaired by Senator Godswill Akpabio, has given the National Identity Management Commission (NIMC) two weeks to provide a report on the nominations.
