Tinubu Moves To Stop FBI, CIA, Others From Releasing Confidential Files

Published:

Bola Tinubu, the president of Nigeria, has taken action to prevent records pertaining to him from being released by the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI), the Central Intelligence Agency (CIA), and other US agencies.

Visitodell understands that over 2,500 FBI-related files pertaining to President Tinubu would be made available starting in October.

Peoples Gazette reports that Tinubu’s American attorneys have submitted moves to participate in a current FOIA case against American organizations that have documents that could shed light on the president’s true identity and long-term pursuits.

Christopher Carmichael, an attorney who recently represented Tinubu in the Chicago records issue, filed the motion on October 18, 2023, claiming to be a qualified practitioner to participate in the FOIA action now pending in Washington, D.C.

Carey, who practices in D.C., said on Carmichael’s behalf, “Pursuant to Civil Local Rule 83.2(c), Bryan A. Carey moves for the admission and appearance of attorney Christopher Carmichael pro hac vice in the above-entitled action.

“This motion is supported by the Declaration of Christopher Carmichael. As set forth in Mr. Carmichael’s declaration, he is admitted and an active member in good standing.”

Oluwole Afolabi, the president’s primary attorney in the US, informed The Gazette that he could not comment on the situation until it had formally started. Carmichael did not return a request for comment.

In order to fight for any reliefs before the October 31 deadline, the attorneys would try to file a comprehensive argument as soon as feasible.

The owner of PlainSite, a website that promotes transparency and anti-corruption in public service, Aaron Greenspan, had been informed by the FBI that the record will be made available to him before the end of October.

Two weeks prior to this action, Tinubu had been losing a hard-fought struggle to keep his academic records from being released to the PDP presidential contender Atiku Abubakar by a federal court in Chicago.
