President Bola Tinubu expressed his condolences for the death of a prominent Islamic cleric, Shaykh Abdul-Afis Asamu Abou.
Shaykh Abou, who was the Baba Adinni of Lagos and chairman of the Executive Council of Lagos Central Mosque, passed away at the age of 101 on Tuesday.
Presidential spokesperson, Ajuri Ngelale, stated that President Tinubu received the news with great sadness.
In a statement on Wednesday, Tinubu extended his sympathies to the deceased’s family, the Muslim community in Lagos, and the Lagos State Government for their loss.
The president also recognized Baba’s amazing record of devotion, responsibility, and sacrifice, highlighting his tremendous contributions to the Muslim Ummah, Lagos State, and beyond.
“Baba dedicated his life to the service of the people. He lived a full life, guided by the highest and noblest moral codes. He was a fine example for all of us. He will be sorely missed. We should take solace in Baba’s legacy and uphold his values of honesty, dignity, and sacrifice,” he said.
President Tinubu requested that Almighty Allah award Baba the highest rank in Al-Jannah Firdaus.
