The Tincan Island Chapter of the Nigeria Customs Service reported on Friday that they have seized a total of 11 rifles and six pump-action guns since January.

The Customs Area Controller, Dera Nnadi, made the revelation while speaking to journalists.

He mentioned that these seizures were made possible through cooperation with other agencies, such as the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency.

“These were all seized from some containers. On the whole, the total number of rifles was 11 and pistols six,” he said.

Nandi noted that the command has recently seized psychoactive drugs.

“Permit me to also mention that in addition to this, the command in recent times had also made yet another seizure of psychotropic substances imported into the country which was intercepted through the collaboration with NDLEA,” he said.

Speaking on the command’s revenue in the last two months, he said, “For the first two months and 14 days of this year, the command has been able to generate N240bn. As you can recall, our revenue target monthly is N94bn and what this means is that we have been able to surpass our expected revenue target for two months.”
