Authorities in the Dominican Republic have apprehended the American rapper Tekashi 6ix9ine, also known as Daniel Hernández, on allegations of domestic abuse.
He is slated to appear in court on Thursday. The rapper is currently held in a Santo Domingo jail after his arrest on Wednesday, with limited information available, including his legal representation status.
A judge will decide on Thursday whether 6ix9ine should remain in jail or be released on bond during the ongoing investigation.
The arrest adds to the rapper’s legal history, including a previous arrest in the Dominican Republic in October for allegedly assaulting a local music producer.
In the United States, he faced charges related to a violent gang but avoided prison by testifying against the Nine Trey Gangsta Bloods on the East Coast. In March 2023, he experienced an assault in a Florida gym, and in 2018, he collaborated with Nicki Minaj on the hit song “Fefe,” reaching number three on the pop charts.
