Abia State Governor, Alex Otti, has called on potential investors to take advantage of the numerous opportunities available in the state.
He made this call while expressing his government’s commitment to building more quality roads in Abia to boost trade and commercial activities.
Otti spoke during the inauguration of the MCC/Old Express Road in Aba.
The governor stressed that his administration considers the building of good roads as crucial not only for improving traffic but also for creating a favorable environment for businesses to thrive. He announced that the government had awarded contracts for the reconstruction and repair of various roads that are vital for economic growth.
“We cannot drive the kind of economic rejuvenation that we seek if our most important roads are in bad shape,” Otti said.
Otti stated that the newly reconstructed road is evidence that the government has started a comprehensive revitalization of Aba and the entire state.
He said: “Aba is open for business” and called on potential investors to take advantage of the numerous opportunities that abound in the state.
“Our motivation in government is to create the right environment for individuals to live out the full expression of their dreams.
“We are also interested in supporting the growth of enterprises and setting up a safe haven for legitimately profitable and sustainable investments.”
Otti emphasized the government’s commitment to developing initiatives and strategies that would facilitate the creation of efficient investment routes and partnerships, ultimately leading to enhanced public service delivery.
Additionally, he highlighted that the government had taken steps to address the ongoing issue of recurrent flooding in Aba. The governor disclosed that contracts had been awarded for the reconstruction of economically important roads in the local government areas.
“We are working very hard to reconstruct several other roads in about nine LGAs through a special multilateral funding arrangement that gives the state a pathway to fix roads to boost agriculture productivity and produce marketing,” he added.
The President of the Aba Chamber of Commerce, Industry, Mines and Agriculture, Chief Jerry Kalu, praised the government for its efforts in rebuilding Abia. He stated that the current administration’s agenda for rebuilding would greatly contribute to the socio-economic growth of the state.
Eric Shen, the Director of China Civil Engineering Construction Company, also expressed gratitude to the state government and the host community for the successful completion of the road project.
According to Shen, the road was constructed using the highest engineering design and specifications, ensuring its durability. He emphasized that the road plays a crucial role in promoting socio-economic development and will greatly improve the residents’ quality of life.
In a related development, Mr. Otumchere Oti, the Commissioner for Works, highlighted the administration’s dedication to improving the state’s road network and infrastructure.
Oti emphasized that the MCC Old Express, Udeagbala, and Umuimo Roads in Aba were reconstructed with top-notch specifications in road construction, including street lights and drainage systems.
He urged the residents to avoid activities that could damage the roads and compromise their functionality.
The Udeagbala and Umuimo roads were officially inaugurated by the governor.
