The Supreme Court is currently reviewing an appeal filed by Oladipupo Adebutu, who is challenging the majority decision of the Court of Appeal that upheld the election of Dapo Abiodun as the governor of Ogun State.

A panel of five judges, led by Justice John Okoro, has reserved judgment after both parties presented their arguments and submitted their documents.

Adebutu is requesting that the court invalidate the election because the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) initially cancelled the elections in 99 polling units and later ordered fresh elections to be held in those units.

However, INEC ultimately declared Abiodun the winner of the March 2023 election, disregarding the margin of votes.

Abiodun had won the election with a margin of 13,000 votes, while the votes from the cancelled polling units amounted to 44,000.
