On Thursday, some suspected criminals took control of trucks carrying food in Suleja, Niger State, near Abuja, the capital of Nigeria.

Witnesses reported that the criminals blocked trucks coming from Abuja to Kaduna by setting fire to tires on the road.

This incident occurred during a time of widespread economic hardship and hunger in the country.

An eyewitness named Alhassan Abdullahi mentioned that many bags of food, especially rice, were stolen before soldiers arrived.

He stated, “Soldiers had to come and fire shots in the air to scare the criminals away. However, many of them still managed to escape with bags of rice, spaghetti, and other food items.”

Additionally, there are reports that commercial motorcycle riders are planning a protest, which was supposed to happen yesterday but was delayed for unknown reasons.

Meanwhile, the Nigerian Labour Congress (NLC) confirmed that they will proceed with a two-day nationwide protest next week.

NLC president Joe Ajaero explained that the protest is a response to the current economic situation in the country.

The Labour union also rejected an appeal from the Department of State Services (DSS) to cancel the planned protest.
