Six Die In Ogun Road Mishaps

Three accidents happened in Ogun State on Monday, resulting in six deaths and 20 injuries.

Additionally, 26 people were unharmed in the crashes, according to Florence Okpe, the spokesperson for the Ogun State Command of the Federal Road Safety Corps.

The first accident took place at Fidiwo on the Lagos-Ibadan Expressway at 3:40 a.m., causing two fatalities and injuring two others. It involved a Toyota bus with the license plate GBJ915XA and a Golf car without a license plate.

The statement read, “The suspected causes of the crash were wrongful overtaking, excessive speed and making the vehicle lose control and crash. The injured victims were taken to Victory Hospital, Ogere while the corpses were deposited at FOS Morgue, Ipara Remo”.

Another crash happened around 5:18 am on the Ijebu-ode-Ore-Benin Expressway after Ajede junction. It involved a Toyota bus with the license plate RBC213XT.

There were 20 passengers in the bus during the accident. 17 of them sustained injuries, and unfortunately, three people lost their lives.

The statement read, “A total of 20 persons were involved ( five male adults, nine female adults, teo male children and four female children) 17 people sustained injury ( nine female adults, three male adults, three female children and two male children). While three persons died in the crash ( teo male adults and one female child).

“The cause of the lone crash was speed and fatigue. The injured victims were taken to Roona Hospital and General Hospital Ijebu-Ode while the corpses were deposited at the General Hospital morgue”

Another accident occurred at approximately 2 am on the Ijebu-Ode-Ore-Benin Expressway after the Ajebamidele Bridge.

A luxury bus traveling southeast crashed into a parked IVECO truck with the license plate TRE265XB.

There were 29 people involved in the accident, with two passengers sustaining injuries and one passenger losing their life. The remaining 26 passengers were unharmed.

Okpe said, “The third crash occurred at about 0200hrs on Ore-Ijebu-ode Expressway after Ajebamidele bridge.

A total of 29 individuals were involved in the incident, consisting of 17 adult males and 12 adult females. Among them, two people sustained injuries, one female adult was tragically killed, and the remaining 26 individuals were unharmed. The accident involved two vehicles: an IVECO TRUCK with the registration number TRE265XB and a Luxury bus without a visible number.

“The cause of the crash was road obstruction on the part of the truck and the bus rammed into the stationary truck that was wrongly parked.

“The injured victims were taken to Olaolu Clinic Ajebandele, and the corpse was deposited at the morgue.”
