According to authorities, 38 survivors of the boat disaster near Cape Verde arrived in Dakar via military plane on Monday evening, more than six weeks after they left Senegal.
They are among the 101 persons who set off on the expedition on July 10 in the hope of reaching Spain’s Canary Islands.
More than 60 individuals, mostly males from Fass Boye and the surrounding area, are presumed dead after their boat drifted at sea for more than a month.
There is still pain and fury in this town after the boat disaster.
A few residents, including members of the same family, told The BBC that they were relieved that their relatives were on their way home alive.
