FCT, Abuja — The Senate is planning to summon the FCT Minister, Nyesom Wike, due to the worsening security situation in Abuja.
Senator Ireti Kingibe, who represents the FCT, made this known during a Channels TV program on Sunday.
She stated that the Minister will be called upon to explain his strategy for addressing the security crisis when the Senate resumes plenary.
Senator Kingibe, who was elected under the Labour Party, expressed concern about the recent increase in kidnappings, killings, and other criminal activities carried out by bandits in the nation’s capital.
“It is not that I am hoping. I know he will be summoned. But whether he responds or not is a different matter entirely. But as the chief security officer of the FCT, he should have a plan.
“He should be able to tell us, the committee, and specifically me, that this is the plan for protecting the people of the FCT. Between him, the police commissioner, and the head of the DSS, they must have a plan,” the Senator said.
The lawmaker revealed that she has a “disconnect” with the FCT Minister, as he has been ignoring her messages and letters regarding the security issues in the area.
