The Nigerian Senate on Thursday approved President Bola Tinubu’s N2.17 trillion 2023 Supplementary Budget request.
The bill was passed after the Senate Committee on Appropriations Chairman, Senator Solomon Olamilekan Adeola (APC Ogun West), submitted the report of the harmonised sittings of both chambers on the bill.
Remember that President Bola Ahmed Tinubu‘s administration submitted a N2.1 trillion budget to the National Assembly on Monday after receiving approval from the Federal Executive Council.
The budget includes N210 billion for civil servants’ wage awards, N605 billion for national security and defense, N300 billion for bridge maintenance, particularly the Eko bridge, and N400 billion for cash transfers to vulnerable households, N200 billion for seed and agricultural inputs and equipment, and N18 billion for the Independent National Electoral Commission to conduct off-season elections.
