Crystal Palace’s manager, Roy Hodgson, has had to cancel his press conference before the team’s upcoming match against Everton due to illness.
There have been rumors circulating that Hodgson may be sacked, and these reports have intensified with his sudden illness. It is speculated that Oliver Glasner, the former head coach of Eintracht Frankfurt, is being considered as a potential replacement for the 76-year-old manager.
Hodgson recently reached his 200th match in charge of Crystal Palace, but unfortunately, the team suffered a 3-1 defeat against Chelsea. As a result, Crystal Palace currently sits in 15th place, with a five-point lead over the relegation zone.
A short statement issued on the club website read: “Unfortunately, today’s press conference will no longer take place as scheduled as Roy Hodgson was taken ill during this morning’s training session.”
The South London team is currently experiencing a disappointing streak, having lost 10 out of their last 16 Premier League games. Roy Hodgson is currently in his second term as the club’s manager, initially taking over on a short-term basis towards the end of last season, replacing Patrick Vieira.
After stabilizing the team’s performance at Selhurst Park and leading them to an 11th-place finish last season, there is growing discontent among supporters as the club is now facing the possibility of relegation.
Hodgson faced criticism from fans when he brought on Michael Olise as a substitute during a match against Brighton, only to have him withdrawn shortly after due to a recurring hamstring injury.
There are many reports indicating that Palace has already completed a deal to replace Hodgson with Glasner. Glasner successfully led Eintracht Frankfurt to victory in the UEFA Europa League final in 2022/23, defeating Rangers in a penalty shootout.
He also guided the Bundesliga team to the knockout stages of the Champions League. However, after a streak of 10 winless matches, Glasner decided to resign at the end of last season.
