Details have emerged of the reason President Tinubu retracted the nomination of Ruby Onwudiwe as a member of the Board of the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN).
It is believed that the reason for this withdrawal is Onwudiwe’s public support for the Labour Party presidential candidate, Peter Obi, during the recent election in which Tinubu was declared the winner.
On Wednesday, Senate President Godswill Akpabio read the President’s nomination letter for Onwudiwe. Shortly after the letter was read in the Senate, a screenshot of Onwudiwe’s tweet endorsing and voting for Obi in the 2023 presidential election was shared on Twitter.
The tweet mentioned in the report has received over 300 thousand views and has been widely retweeted by some members of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in protest of President Tinubu’s nomination.
Senator Opeyemi Bamidele and Senator Solomon Adeola reportedly raised concerns about the nomination of President Tinubu during a meeting with Senate President Akpabio and other senators last night.
Allub Times learned that President Tinubu will soon announce a replacement for Onwudiwe.
