The House of Representatives has summoned Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) Governor Yemi Cardoso to explain why the forex embargo on 43 commodities has been lifted.

Following the passage of a motion of urgent public concern moved by Sada Soli, a legislator from Katsina, the lower legislative chamber passed the resolution summoning the CBN governor during plenary on Tuesday.

43 goods were barred from accessing forex in 2015, among whom were rice, chicken goods, eggs, beef, toothpicks, and pencils.

However, the new governor of the CBN recently relaxed the restrictions on these commodities.
