The hit song “Calm Down” by Nigerian singer Divine Ikubor, also known as Rema, has been named the most shazammed song globally in 2023.

This is a significant achievement as it is the first African song to top the Global Shazam Year-End list. “Calm Down” surpassed popular songs like Miley Cyrus‘ “Flowers” and Lady Gaga’s “Bloody Mary” to claim the top spot.

Furthermore, the remix of “Calm Down” featuring Selena Gomez has been ranked as the 12th most streamed song in the world on Apple Music in 2023.

In the United States, it holds the position of the 45th most-streamed song on Apple Music for the year.

Rema has also made a mark on the 2023 Billboard Year-End Charts, appearing a total of 34 times. This includes various categories such as artistes’ year-end charts, airplay, albums, and song chart entries. This achievement solidifies Rema’s status as one of the most successful African artistes in 2023.
