The Premier League has taken away 10 points from Everton after finding them guilty of breaking profit and sustainability regulations.

Everton, based at Goodison Park, expressed their surprise and disappointment at the penalty and have decided to challenge it.

An official club statement read: “Both the harshness and severity of the sanction imposed by the Commission are neither a fair nor a reasonable reflection of the evidence submitted”.

The deduction is the biggest ever in the Premier League’s history.

It will take effect immediately, causing Sean Dyche‘s team to fall into the relegation zone.
