The Nigeria Police Force’s Lagos State Command has detained Nigerian musician Azeez Adeshina Fashola, popularly known as Naira Marley, in connection with the death of one of his former signees, Ilerioluwa Aloba, professionally known as MohBad.
Mohbad died in a bizarre manner a few weeks ago.
However, the spokesperson for the Lagos Police Command, Benjamin Hundeyin, revealed in a statement on Tuesday night that Naira Marley, who had recently returned to Nigeria, had been arrested.
Azeez Fashola, aka Naira Marley, has been taken into custody for interrogation and other investigation activities,” Hundeyin noted on his X (former Twitter) account late Tuesday.
Naira Marley is likely to assist authorities in their investigation into MohBad’s death, which has elicited conflicting emotions on and off social media.
Naira Marley had already sworn to clear his record and, prior to the police statement, declared his coming in Nigeria to assist with the investigation into his former signee’s death.
“I’d like to share that I’ve just arrived back in Lagos, Nigeria, to assist the authorities with the ongoing investigation. It’s important I do my part for Imole. I’ll be meeting with the police with hopes for the truth to be uncovered and for justice to prevail,” the singer said earlier.
