Amos Yohanna of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) was sworn in as the senator for Adamawa North Senatorial District on Wednesday.

Jibrin Barau, Deputy President of the Senate, administered the oath of office to Yohanna.

The Court of Appeal fired Elisha Abbo of the ruling All Progressive Congress 9APC), who represented Adamawa North, last week.

The decision followed Yohanna’s action before the tribunal, disputing the outcome of the senate election against Abbo, candidate of the All Progressives Congress, APC, and the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC.

He contended that Abbo’s election should be declared unlawful due to corrupt practices and noncompliance with the terms of the Electoral Act of 2022.

Yohanna also mentioned over-voting at several polling places, fake entries, and the altering and cancellation of ballots at numerous polling places.

The tribunal denied Yohanna’s petition, but the appeals court affirmed it.
