Nigerian rapper Tochukwu Ojogwu, popularly known as Odumodublvck, reflected on an early career moment when he received an unconventional payment for a performance: a bottle of beer.

Recounting the incident on the Zero Conditions podcast with hosts Motolani and Melody, Odumodublvck shared how, in 2017, he and Reeplay performed at a show and were unexpectedly given beer bottles as payment due to the owner’s generosity and appreciation for their performance.

The rapper also disclosed facing financial challenges, such as selling a car for scrap and performing in second-hand clothes (“Okrika”), even as late as 2018. Odumodublvck gained widespread recognition with his viral hit “Declan Rice,” later used by Arsenal for the unveiling of their record signing, Declan Rice, in July.

He has, however, followed up with hit songs such as ‘Blood on the Dance Floor’, ‘Commend’ among others which are quickly gaining global traction.
