Popular Nollywood actor Junior Pope Odonwodo has tragically passed away.
Movie producer Stanley Nwoke, who was with the actor throughout the incident, confirmed the sad news of the actor’s death during a live Instagram video on Wednesday night.
The producer expressed certainty this time, attributing the actor’s demise to the actions that were taken.
He revealed that three doctors from different hospitals had confirmed and declared Pope dead after a long battle for his life.
Nwoke mentioned that Pope was initially rejected by the morgue and then taken to a river bank for a ritual before finally being brought to the hospital, where his death was confirmed.
There were concerns that Junior Pope had passed away on Wednesday, along with three others, when their boat overturned while trying to cross the River Niger in Anambra State for a film shoot.
Reports online stated that the Nollywood actors were coming back from a movie production when the tragic event occurred.
Their bodies were found in the river where their boat had capsized.
However, Emeka Rollas, the National President of the Actors Guild of Nigeria (AGN), confirmed that the Nollywood actor was actually alive.
Rollas took to his Instagram page on Wednesday to announce that Junior Pope is alive and currently receiving medical treatment at a hospital, despite earlier reports suggesting otherwise.
