A few weeks after the death of popular comic actor Mr Ibu, tragedy yet again struck Nollywood as veteran actor Amaechi Muonagor passed away after a battle with kidney disease.

Morris Monye, a well-known social media influencer and chairman of Delta State Sports Association, announced the passing via his official X handle on Sunday.

He expressed his deep sorrow over the actor’s death.

“Deeply heartbroken by the news of Amaechi Muonagor’s passing. He was a talented Nollywood actor whose presence on our screens was truly masterful.

“We watched with concern as he battled health issues, offering whatever support we could to help him seek treatment in India.

“This tragic loss highlights the need for better healthcare in our country,” he wrote.

The Actor Guild of Nigeria, AGN, has not commented on the news.

Just a week ago, the 61-year-old Nollywood actor made a distressing video asking Nigerians for financial assistance for his kidney transplant.

On November 27, 2023, the actor’s relative, Tony ‘Oneweek’ Muonagor, confirmed that he was suffering from kidney disease.

Throughout his career, Muonagor has starred in numerous films, including Aki and Paw Paw, where he portrayed the father of two mischievous teenagers. His situation comes after the passing of Mr. Ibu (John Okafor) on March 2, 2024.
