President Aurelio de Laurentiis was said to have applauded the European Court’s decision yesterday, which stops FIFA and UEFA from punishing clubs for joining another league.

According to Fabrizio Romano, CdS is actually in favour of at least considering the possibility.

“After speaking with Florentino Perez, we decided to get together with other business owners to talk about our future plans.”

He wrote in the Italian paper, “Football is being managed by old people with no vision.”

According to A22 CEO Bernd Reichart, there were more clubs that had openly expressed their opposition to the project. Those clubs’ interest is moot until they feel they can publicly support the initiative. The English teams’ participation—and the British government’s action to stop Premier League teams from joining—may be the deciding factor.
