Popular Nigerian singer and entrepreneur Oluwatosin Oluwole Ajibade, famously known as Mr. Eazi, has opened up about the profound influences of iconic Nigerian singer 2BABA (formerly 2Face) and Jamaican dancehall sensation Beenie Man on his artistic journey.

Mr. Eazi credited his popular catchphrase, “Zagadat,” to lyrics from 2BABA’s ‘Nfana Ibaga’ remix featuring Beenie Man.

In an interview with Capital Xtra, UK, Mr. Eazi clarified that he carefully crafted his catchphrase to avoid any potential copyright issues, emphasising that he delivered it in a distinct manner from its original rendition in the song.

Shedding light on the inspiration behind “Zagadat,” he shared, “A special shout out to Beenie Man and 2Face. The genesis of my catchphrase ‘Zagadat’ can be traced back to their collaborative track ‘Nfana Ibaga’ remix.

Specifically, it comes from the segment that goes, ‘And the Lord says, Let there be light. Zagazaga za.’ That’s the source, my friend. I’m in the clear with regards to royalties because I articulated it as ‘Zagadat,’ not ‘Zagagaza za.'”
