Following its stellar performance in 2023 with a record-breaking ₦854.3 million, Funke Akindele‘s ‘A Tribe Called Judah’ has achieved another milestone as the first Nollywood film to surpass the N1 billion mark at the box office.

The remarkable accomplishment was achieved just over three weeks after the movie’s release.

The announcement of this historic achievement was made by Kene Okwuosa, the CEO of FilmHouse Group, in a statement released on Thursday.

Okwuosa highlighted that Nigerian cinema is currently experiencing a golden era, and ‘A Tribe Called Judah’ stands as a testament to the industry’s resilience in the face of global streaming giants like Netflix and Prime Video.

‘A Tribe Called Judah’ made waves from its opening weekend, grossing over N113 million after its release on December 15, 2023.

Funke Akindele, known for producing captivating movies, had previously set the record for the highest-grossing movie at the box office in 2022 with ‘Battle on Buka Street.’
