Lionel Messi’s eighth Ballon d’Or continues to be a source of controversy, with many believing Erling Haaland was more deserving of the 2023 football’s most-coveted award.
One such person is Nigerian singer Remilekun Khalid Safaru, known more popularly by his stage name Reminisce.
Speaking on the Zero Conditions Podcast, he said, “He (Messi) didn’t win anything, he was gifted, everybody knows this. I said this last year that Cristiano Ronaldo is the one true GOAT, Lionel Messi is FIFA’s creation,” said Reminisce.
The musician also claimed the 2022 FIFA World Cup which Argentina won in Qatar was scripted.
“World Cup yen, it was a well-written script,” he alleged.
He went on to praise Cristiano Ronaldo, characterizing him as: “dedicated, no hobby, no side hustle, no tattoo…play ball. Wake up play ball, sleep play ball.”
