Nigerian artist Adewale Mayowa Emmanuel, widely known as Mayorkun, who is signed to Davido’s record label, DMW, has declared his decision to refrain from performing in Calabar, the capital of Cross River State.

Taking to his X account (formerly Twitter) on Tuesday morning, Mayorkun expressed his intentions, conveying well wishes to other artists scheduled to perform in the city. He stated, “Calabar, You’ll probably never ever see me again, good luck to the other artists coming for your festivals tho.”

Reports from fans in the comment section suggested that Mayorkun had experienced a robbery during his recent performance in Calabar. Some fans claimed that the singer’s expensive necklace, valued at millions of naira, was stolen.

In response to the alleged robbery, singer Iyanya voiced his concern and urged the perpetrator to return the stolen item.

He pledged personal compensation, stating, “My Calabar people, this is very bad for the peaceful people I know us to be. The government has brought my colleagues to entertain you; all you owe them is protection and great hospitality. If you know anyone who stole from my brother, please return it, and I will personally compensate you. Drop it at The Grand Hotel. I will personally compensate you, please.”
