Paris Saint-Germain coach Luis Enrique declined to discuss Kylian Mbappe’s departure from the club at the end of the season.
According to a source close to PSG, Mbappe has informed the club of his intention to leave when his contract expires.
It is widely believed that he will join Real Madrid, and negotiations with the Spanish team are said to be underway.
“I have no information to give you,” Luis Enrique told reporters at a press conference before the visit to Nantes on Saturday.
“I am going to avoid talking about this subject until the parties involved speak about it,” the Spaniard said.
“Kylian Mbappe has not said anything publicly and neither has the club. I am the coach and when the other parties have spoken, I’ll give my opinion.”
Kylian Mbappe, aged 25, joined Paris from Monaco in 2017. He had initially extended his contract until 2024, but last summer he chose not to activate a clause that would have allowed him to stay for an additional year at PSG.
“The terms of the departure have yet to be fully agreed,” the source said, adding that the club and Mbappe will make an official statement “when everything is finalised in the next few months”.
The captain of France will officially announce his departure in a few months. Mbappe, who has scored 20 goals this season, was the top scorer in Ligue 1.
He also scored the first goal in PSG’s 2-0 victory over Real Sociedad in the first leg of their Champions League tie.
Mbappe gained global recognition when France won the 2018 World Cup in Russia. He also scored a hat-trick in the 2022 World Cup final in Qatar, but unfortunately, Argentina won on penalties.
