The Lagos state government, under the leadership of Babajide Sanwo-Olu, has given its approval for the allocation of N44.8 million to clear vegetables in the Epe Mixed Development Scheme.

The project was awarded to M/S Obak Nigeria Enterprises by the Lagos State New Towns Development Authority in May, as stated by the state’s Public Procurement Agency (PPA).

The Governor Sanwo-Olu faced criticism for approving N7.5 million to replace liquid fragrance in his office and N3 billion to purchase rechargeable fans for the office of his deputy, Obafemi Hamzat.

According to Daily Trust, upon further investigation, it was discovered that the state government approved certain expenditures that raised doubts.

The document disclosed that a sum of N73.1 million was authorized for the creation of official portraits of President Bola Tinubu and the state governor, Sanwo-Olu.

The responsibility for this project was given to Flolizvi Connect, and it was carried out under the supervision of the Chief of Staff’s office.

Tinubu, a former governor of Lagos state, was inaugurated as President on May 29th after defeating his main rivals: Alhaji Atiku Abubakar of the Peoples Democratic Party, Peter Obi of the Labour Party, and Rabiu Kwankwaso of the New Nigeria Peoples Party, NNPP.

According to the Ministry of Economic Planning and Budget’s website, there are fewer than 150 MDAs (Ministries, Departments, and Agencies) in Lagos.

On June 19th, the office of the Chief of Staff also received approval for N80.8 million to purchase ten units of foreign used vehicles.

The same office received approval for the purchase of a new Lexus LX 600 Bulletproof Sport Utility Vehicle, costing N440.75 million.

Additionally, they were granted N18.5 million for the supply and distribution of 2,000 Noiler chickens across the local government areas and wards in the state.

The government also allocated N152 million for the restoration of the water supply at Iduganran Palace, the official residence of the Oba of Lagos.

Furthermore, records indicate that N581 million was approved for the renovation of Saint Andrews Anglican Church in the Oke-Popo area of the state.
