Kylian Mbappe appears set to sign a new deal with Paris Saint-Germain on the condition that he be permitted to leave the club next summer.

Mbappe’s future has dominated the transfer market this summer, but it now appears like the 24-year-old attacker will remain at PSG after all, with a contract offer on the table that would ensure he is certain to leave for a fee in 2024.

Mbappe told PSG in June that he has no plans to extend his current deal, which expires next summer. PSG, unwilling to allow the Frenchman leave for free, accepted a record £259 million ($328.4 million) bid from Saudi club Al-Hilal. When Mbappe turned down the move, the Ligue 1 club barred him from participating in pre-season training.

According to FootMercarto, Mbappe is expected to sign a one-year contract with PSG until 2025, with a clause guaranteeing that he can be transferred in 2024, following fruitful talks with PSG president Nasser Al-Khelaifi. PSG will be able to collect a transfer fee, and the player will be able to fulfill his desire to go on.

Mbappe is widely expected to join Real Madrid next summer. The Spanish giants have yet to secure a replacement for Karim Benzema and are expected to pursue Mbappe next year. However, it appears that a free transfer is out of the question.
