Manchester City’s Kalvin Phillips, who has been left out of the team, has finalized his loan move to West Ham. The midfielder is eager to secure consistent playing time.
Phillips, a 28-year-old English player, joined Manchester City from his childhood club Leeds in the summer of 2022 for a hefty £42 million ($53m) fee.
In his first season with the club, he won medals in the Premier League, Champions League, and FA Cup as part of a successful team. However, he failed to convince manager Pep Guardiola of his value.
Phillips has had limited playing time in the Premier League this season, starting only two games and playing just 89 minutes. As a result, he has been somewhat overlooked. However, he now has the opportunity to regain his form under David Moyes at the London Stadium.
It’s important to note that West Ham’s agreement with Phillips does not include an option to buy him permanently. Nevertheless, he can showcase his skills and attract potential suitors. He will also be motivated to stay in the running for a spot in Gareth Southgate’s squad for Euro 2024.
