Governor Hyacinth Alia of Benue State is taking steps to raise the minimum wage for workers.

A statement released on Friday by the governor’s spokesperson, Tersoo Kula, announced that a committee has been formed to review the current minimum wage and provide recommendations to the government.

The committee, led by the Secretary to the State Government and including the Head of Service and various heads of MDAs, will work closely with the state chapter of the Nigeria Labour Congress, NLC.

Kula emphasized that the state government is aware of the economic challenges facing citizens and is making efforts to reduce their suffering.

“The committee has since held its inaugural meeting and will be collaborating with organized labour.

“The government of Benue State is conscious of the economic challenges the nation is experiencing and will do its best to provide its citizens succour in the prevailing circumstances,” the statement added.
