Folarin Balogun appears to be on his way out of Arsenal, with Monaco reportedly close to a deal for the US international.
The 22-year-old striker has been connected with clubs across Europe during the current transfer window, with teams from England, France, Italy, and Germany all showing interest. No agreement has been reached because Arsenal is demanding a sum in excess of £40 million ($51 million).
According to Sky Sports, Monaco are ready to put together a deal that fits the Gunners’ criteria, with personal conditions already agreed in principle with Balogun. Any agreement will see the USMNT star return to French football, where he scored 21 goals during a good loan spell with Ligue 1 side Reims last season.
More talks between Monaco and Arsenal are scheduled, as well as the establishment of a payment mechanism. With the player eager to secure a move in order to play regular first-team football in 2023-24, it is expected that a deal will be concluded before the summer deadline.
Balogun is under contract at Arsenal until 2025, but he will face competition for a starting spot in north London from the likes of Gabriel Jesus and Eddie Nketiah, meaning he was always likely to leave in the current window.
