Enzo Fernandez is said to be prepared to depart from Chelsea after only 18 months since joining the team, as he has expressed his desire to join Barcelona.

Sport reports that the Argentine midfielder has made the decision to leave Stamford Bridge and has his sights set on a transfer to Barcelona.

The Catalan club is seeking to reinforce their squad for the upcoming season and had previously shown interest in the former Benfica player due to his impressive performance in Argentina’s successful World Cup campaign in 2022.

Despite his desire to move to Camp Nou, the 23-year-old will face numerous obstacles. Barca’s current financial predicament poses a significant challenge, as they may struggle to meet his high salary demands and the hefty transfer fee.

Additionally, he remains contractually bound to Chelsea until 2032, making negotiations even more complicated.

Fernandez continues to play a vital role in Mauricio Pochettino’s squad. He has participated in 29 matches across various competitions this season, finding the back of the net on six occasions. His most recent goal came during his team’s FA Cup fourth-round match against Aston Villa earlier this week.

Fernandez will aim to motivate Chelsea to secure another triumph when they face Crystal Palace in the Premier League on Monday.

The Blues currently sit in 11th place in the Premier League standings and will be seeking a significant victory to boost their confidence ahead of their upcoming clash against Manchester City on February 17th.
