Questions have been raised on whether Lewis Hamilton is capable of adding to his seven Formula 1 world titles.

Former British racing driver cum commentator David Coulthard made this objection as he is not convinced he’ll be able to do it again.

Hamilton has summited the F1 world a record-equalling seven times, matched only by the legendary German Michael Schumacher.

The Briton was unjustly deprived of an eighth in 2021 when Max Verstappen controversially stole the title from him. Since then, the Dutch king has ruled supremely, with Mercedes falling well short of Red Bull’s level.

Coulthard believes his fellow Brit doesn’t have what it takes to dethrone Verstappen at the moment, unless Mercedes provide him with a car capable of challenging for the title.

This is not the Lewis of old,” the Scot remarked. “Lewis has been underperforming for the past two years, which is incredibly frustrating. It will be fascinating to watch if he can recapture the former Lewis magic once he obtains a winning vehicle.”

This season, Hamilton has managed to deliver some impressive results and placed third in the drivers’ standings. However, those victories were far too infrequent, and he hasn’t won a race in the last two years.
