The Ilorin Zonal Command of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has apprehended a herbalist and 48 individuals suspected of engaging in internet fraud in Lokoja.
The suspects were taken into custody for crimes related to conspiracy and fraudulent activities in the capital of Kogi State.
The EFCC released a statement on Thursday stating that the arrests were made based on reliable information on Tuesday, March 5, 2024, at different locations in Lokoja.
The herbalist, who is believed to be a spiritual mentor to internet fraudsters, was found in possession of various charms.
During the operation, authorities seized 10 luxury cars, two motorcycles, 11 laptops, 83 mobile phones, and charms from the suspects.
The male suspects, aged between 17 and 34, will face charges in court once the investigations are completed.
