The Rivers State High Court has struck out a lawsuit filed by Edison Ehie, the resigned factional Speaker of the Rivers State House of Assembly.
Ehie had filed charges against 25 lawmakers who defected from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to the All Progressives Congress (APC) during a political crisis between Governor Siminalayi Fubara and his predecessor, Nyesom Wike.
The suit was filed against the defected lawmakers for continuing to sit as members of the Rivers State House of Assembly after their seats were declared vacant.
However, Ehie’s lawyers issued a notice of discontinuance on Thursday, and the judge subsequently struck out the suit.
The action is in accordance with the resolution pact brokered in Abuja by President Bola Tinubu.
