Armed operatives from the Department of State Services (DSS) have arrived at the Supreme Court in preparation for the highly anticipated judgement regarding Nnamdi Kanu, the leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB).
The DSS personnel have sealed off the roads leading to the court and the nearby Villa gate, only allowing those considered “essential” to enter.
According to Politicsnigeria, journalists with official Supreme Court tags were initially turned away without explanation, but they were eventually granted access with the help of senior court officials.
A security vehicle without any markings served as a makeshift checkpoint, where journalists were thoroughly checked before being allowed inside.
Justice Kudirat Kekere-Ekun, who is leading the five-member panel overseeing the case, has yet to arrive at the court.
The judgement will determine whether Kanu, who has been in DSS custody since June 2021, will be released or remain detained.
