Drama As Nicki Minaj Is Mistakenly Announced As Grammy Winner

Published:

The 66th Grammy Award Ceremony stirred up some drama on Sunday night when the Recording Academy’s official X handle “mistakenly” announced ‘Barbie World’ by Nicki Minaj and Ice Spice as the winner of the Best Rap Song category instead of Killer Mike’s ‘Scientists & Engineers.’

This announcement sparked excitement among Nicki Minaj’s fans, who thought she had won a Grammy. However, the organizers swiftly deleted the tweet and issued a correction, recognizing ‘Scientists & Engineers’ as the rightful winner.

The Recording Academy’s blunder triggered a wave of backlash from Nicki Minaj’s supporters, many of whom labelled it as “disrespectful.”

Meanwhile, ‘Sittin’ On Top Of The World’ by Nigerian singer Burna Boy featuring 21 Savage lost out on the Best Melodic Rap Performance award to ‘All My Life’ by Lil Durk featuring J. Cole.
