Everton’s Dele Alli may be set to play his first game for Everton during the festive season after more than a year .
The former Tottenham player sustained a hip injury at Besiktas towards the end of the previous season, which has kept him out of action. After having surgery in the summer, he also sustained a new injury that kept him out of action for the first half of the current season.
The 27-year-old also talked candidly about his personal struggles during that period, revealing that he went to rehab in the USA for six weeks to treat an addiction to sleeping pills. Dele also shared personal information about his early years, such as how he was “molested” when he was six years old and how, at eight, he began dealing drugs.
After making those revelations in an interview with Gary Neville, Dele was showered with support from the entire football community. His return to first-team action now seems likely, with Everton manager Sean Dyche implying that he might be back in full training before Christmas.
He’s doing great,” Everton manager Sean Dyche stated. “He is back on the pitch working through football-related drills with the fitness and sports science coaches, but he does not yet have the freedom to come out and participate with us.
