A joint team of security agents and local vigilantes discovered the decomposing bodies of missing police officers who were allegedly killed by herders in Delta State.
The incident occurred during a search and rescue mission for three missing police officers in the Ohoror community, Ughelli North Local Government Area.
The officers went missing after responding to a distress call on January 24, 2024, from Moses Progress, who was being attacked by herders while performing a ritual sacrifice under a bridge in Ohoror community.
On Sunday, a combined team of security agents and vigilantes found the hideouts of the suspected killer herdsmen and tragically uncovered the bodies of the missing police officers, bringing the total number of corpses found in the Agadama bush to six.
The officers were killed, and their rifles and ammunition were stolen by the assailants. The bodies have been taken to the morgue at Mariere Central Hospital in Ughelli.
According to Sahara Reporters, a security source informed that a manhunt has been launched to apprehend the perpetrators, and discussions are ongoing on how to address the issue of killer herders who have reportedly taken over forests and bushes in Delta State.
