The number of deaths from the cholera outbreak in Zambia has reached nearly 700, according to the medical charity Médecins Sans Frontières (MSF).

The latest outbreak is the largest ever recorded in the country, starting in the capital city of Lusaka in October and spreading to all provinces, infecting over 19,000 people.

MSF emphasizes that cholera can be easily treated with rehydration, but without proper care, a person can die within hours.

Contaminated water is the cause of the disease, so having access to clean drinking water is crucial in preventing the further spread of the outbreak.
