Chelsea have completed the transfer of Manchester City winger Cole Palmer for a rumoured fee of £42 million.
After completing a permanent move from Manchester City, the England Under-21 winger has signed a seven-year contract with Chelsea.
Palmer made three appearances for City this season, scoring in the Community Shield and UEFA Super Cup, however, his time at the club was cut short as the champions bought Rennes’ Jeremy Doku.
Palmer’s transfer for £42.5 million ($53.8 million) brings City’s total academy player sales this summer to more than £85 million ($107 million). Palmer’s departure followed the departures of goalkeeper James Trafford to Burnley, Shea Charles to Southampton, and Carlos Borges to Ajax.
“I have had a fantastic time at Manchester City and I would like to thank everyone who’s been there for me and supported me during my time at the Club – players, coaches, staff,” Palmer told City’s website. “It doesn’t feel that long ago that I was Under-18 captain and I leave now having been involved in the Treble-winning squad and the UEFA Super Cup triumph too, incredible achievements I was so grateful to be a part of.”
Chelsea’s new recruit might make his debut against Nottingham Forest at home on Saturday.
