Twelve more directors of the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) are set to be sacked following the sacking of seven on Friday.
La Nación reports that two of the affected directors have accepted their fate.
The other five are reportedly planning to take legal action against their employer for what they believe is an illegal termination of their careers.
It has been learned that the two resigned directors are being investigated by officials of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), who were implicated in the Jim Obaze report.
Obaze was appointed by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu as a special prosecutor to investigate the activities of the CBN under the supervision of its former governor, Godwin Emefiele.
The dismissal letters sent to the seven directors cited “reorganisational and human capital restructuring” as the reason for their dismissal, which was in line with the bank’s new strategic direction.
