Harry Kane is excited and motivated for Euro 2024 following England’s qualifying campaign, which ended with a 1-1 draw against North Macedonia on Monday.
Despite falling behind 1-0 in the first half, Kane came off the bench and saved his team by scoring a goal from a Phil Foden corner, with the ball being deflected into the net by North Macedonia’s Jani Atanasov.
Although England pushed for a winning goal, they had to settle for a draw. Prior to the match, the Three Lions had already secured their spot in the Euro 2024 finals. They topped Group C, finishing six points ahead of Italy, who also qualified with a 0-0 draw against Ukraine on Monday.
He posted on social media: “Not the win we wanted but an unbeaten qualifying campaign and top of the group. Bring on the Euros in the summer! Thanks for all the support.”
He added to Channel 4: “Difficult game, we knew it would be and it was tough against a decent side playing on a pitch that’s difficult to play our style of football. “We went 1-0 behind against the run of play with a soft penalty. It was good to get on the pitch, I’m always trying to help the team whether it is 90 minutes or 10 minutes. It was important for us to get a goal back and a shame we couldn’t get a second. “I think it was an own goal, pretty sure. If anyone was going to get a second it was us.”
England will discover their group stage opponents for Euro 2024 during the draw on December 2. They will be in Pot 1, alongside Germany, Portugal, France, Spain, and Belgium, who are also considered top seeds for the draw.
