Veteran actor and Nollywood legend, John Okafor, also known as Mr Ibu, has passed away at the age of 62.

He was well-known for his comedic roles, leaving fans and colleagues in mourning.

Multiple sources have confirmed his death, which reportedly occurred at Evercare Hospital in Lekki Phase 1, Lagos State.

Mr Ibu’s health had been a concern for his fans in recent years. It was reported that he had undergone several surgeries, including the amputation of his leg, before his passing. These health issues, along with previous allegations of poisoning, showed the challenges he faced in his final years.

In 2019, Mr. Ibu claimed that his own relatives tried to kill him because they were jealous of his successful career. He said that some of his employees were paid to poison him. This wasn’t the first time he had reported such incidents, as he had been poisoned multiple times before. In an emotional interview with Vanguard Newspaper, Okafor talked about his near-death experiences, mentioning that he had almost died but miraculously survived.
