The midfielder for Fluminense and regarded as one of the brightest talents in the Brazilian league, Andre, has stated that if given the option to sign with either Barcelona or their bitter rivals Real Madrid, he would pick Barcelona.
Fluminense won the Copa Libertadores earlier this year, thanks in large part to 22-year-old Andre’s performance.
After that, in last night’s 2-0 victory over Al Alhy, the Brazilian midfield maestro guided his team to a spot in the FIFA Club World Cup finals.
Andre stayed in Brazil despite being linked with a summer transfer to Liverpool because of his Fluminense performances. However, it’s possible that the 22-year-old will soon relocate to Europe.
The midfielder was posed with the hypothetical question of which team he would prefer to join, even though neither Real Madrid nor Barcelona have expressed any formal interest in him at this time.
It is important to keep in mind that president Joan Laporta has stated that Barcelona is looking to add a new midfield player in January.
But the plan is to only bring in someone on a temporary loan arrangement to fill in for Gavi until the end of the current campaign.
Andre is therefore under contract with Fluminense through December 31, 2026, having signed a new agreement in January of this year, so he might not be an option.
Even so, the 22-year-old would be keeping the door open for a potential future move in the event that Blaugrana decides to give him a look.
