Bandits Kill Nine In Kaduna, Abduct Ex-CBN Director, 34 Others

Bandits have carried out deadly attacks in Kwasam community, Kauru LGA, and Gwada community in Igabi LGA of Kaduna State, resulting in the deaths of at least nine people and the abduction of 35 others.

Among those taken by the bandits are a retired Director of the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN), his brother, and the brother’s wife. Additionally, nine people were injured during the attacks in these areas.

In Kauru LGA, six people lost their lives, five were kidnapped, and two were wounded. In Igabi LGA, three individuals were killed, seven were injured, and 30 were taken captive.

The tragic events unfolded around 10 p.m. when the bandits stormed the communities, specifically targeting the home of the retired CBN employee.

A retired director, his brother, and the brother’s wife were kidnapped by bandits. When residents tried to rescue them, the bandits shot at them, resulting in six deaths and two injuries.

The victims who died were Danmasani Gwaska, Mrs. Giwa John, Kapishi Barmu, Ganya Ubangida, Shigama Salisu, and Gani Magawata.

The kidnapped individuals are Mr. Zakariya Markus (retired CBN director), Mr. Monday Markus (brother of the retired director), Mrs. Monday Markus (wife of Monday), Mr. Alhamdu Makeri’s son, and Baban Fati of Kauru.

Kaduna Governor Uba Sani has called for aggressive military operations against bandits in the state in response to the attacks.

The governor expressed condolences to the families of the victims and assured them that efforts are ongoing to address the security situation.

The security forces are currently carrying out operations in the areas that have been impacted.

“The Governor of Kaduna State is not relenting in his efforts, and he is also working towards sustained aggressive military operations in the frontline locations and emerging fronts like Kauru LGA,” Commissioner of Internal Security and Home Affairs, Samuel Aruwan, said during a visit to the affected areas.
