Bandits reportedly kidnapped 23 residents of Kawu community in Bwari Area Council of the Federal Capital Territory, FCT, Abuja, on Thursday.

The councilor representing the area, Abdulmumini Zakari, confirmed the abduction and stated that the gunmen came from the Kuyeri Forest in Kaduna State and split into groups.

Some of them entered the palace of the district head, Alhaji Abdurrahman Danjuma Ali, where they abducted his son, Lukman, and his wife, who had been married for two weeks.

“Others attacked the compound of Alhaji Alhassan Sidi Kawu, the Marafa of Kawu and a former PDP Chairman of Kawu Ward,” he said.

According to him, the former PDP chairman and his four children were kidnapped by bandits.

The bandits then went to the compound of Sarkin Pawan Kawu, Gambo Pawa, and kidnapped him, his two wives, and his children.

The incident has been confirmed by the FCT Police Command spokeswoman, SP Josephine Adeh. In recent weeks, there have been multiple abductions by bandits in the FCT, particularly affecting residents of satellite towns.
